Practical Physics
has over 12 years of experience designing eddy current probes for
steam generator inspection, heat treat case depth, cracks, and corrosion.
Designs have been implemented in aerospace, power generation, automotive,
and other industries.
Additionally,
probes have been designed and deployed in the petrochemical and
balance of plant markets as well. These probes include BS, CBS,
and RFT (remote field testing).
Other projects
have included custom hall encoders for harse environments, rotating
transformers, finite element modeling of electromagnetic systems
for NDT feasibility.
Example
1: Finite element prediction of the effect of changing the core
diameter of a solenoid while maintaining the coil ID and the core
material properties.

Simple
ferrite core solenoid with flux lines in the model volume
and eddy current density shown in blue region.

ID/OD
Differential Driver Pickup arrangement useful in hardness
testing. Flux line are shown in the model volume and the
eddy current density is shown in the blue region

simple differential bobbin probe with flux line and eddy
current density shown. The blue region in this case represents
Admiralty Brass.
